Here’s how to change how and when your assistant will be able to contact you.
Change time zone
Go to your account preferences.
Make sure you have the correct time zone selected.
Choose the start and end times of your working hours from the dropdown lists. Then, indicate which days of the week you’re available by clicking on the button of each day you’re available. (Days you’re available will be highlighted.)
Note: Assistant activity and chat time stamps will automatically display according to your chosen time zone.
Change alternative contact
Go to your account preferences.
Scroll down to the Alternative Contact section and enter your chosen contact’s name, phone number, and email address.
Your assistant will contact them by phone or email for urgent matters if you are unavailable.
Having an alternative contact is not necessary but can be useful if your assistant runs into an urgent issue or if multiple people are working with your assistant.
Change preferred communication methods
Go to your account preferences.
Scroll down to the Preferred Communication Methods section.
You’ll find a list of communication methods, such as Magic chat, text messaging, and email.
To mark one of these options as a preferred communication channel, tick the box next to it so that it has a check mark.
You can also add context to add nuance and describe when Magic should use a specific channel.
Examples:
- Magic Chat – Use as my primary means of communication
- Text Message – Text me if anything urgent comes up
- Email – Only email me for a daily report on work
- Telegram – Only if I do not respond
- Slack – Monitor #software-issues and create tickets
